Te KAoW enhances learning by empowering ākonga to actively engage, participate and make decisions about their learning.
We support students to take an active role in their learning and to develop a strong sense of self-efficacy. We ensure they are respected as partners in the co-construction of meaningful and relevant learning opportunities, and support them to develop curiosity and critical thinking skills.
Our progression rubrics for Student Agency are now live. The documents have been presented to Principals and are now in use by teachers across a number of our schools. For information on the rubrics and how they could be used, go to the Theory of Improvement page.
The Bek Galloway full day PLD session in August 2019 provided all teaching staff with an opportunity to learn from a New Zealand expert in promoting Student Agency in the classroom. Many teachers found this particularly useful and have integrated some of the specific strategies they learnt into their practice. If you attended and have not received the resources that Bek shared please contact Tupe: tait@wsc.school.nz
This year, the Agency Action Group has combined with the Wellbeing Action Group as there is a strong connection between the two. Talk to the Agency and/or Wellbeing WSTs in your school if you would like to find out more about what is going on.
