Term 1 involved working with all WST’s to create a base set of literacy progressions that can be presented to schools. Schools can then use this as a guide to measure their individual progression and assessment tools and highlight any gaps or oversights. This way all the schools in our Kahui Ako will have started/created their literacy progressions from the same starting point.
Coaching trios have been established and WST’s are sharing goals related to their Kahui Ako work.
Term 2 will see the WST’s getting feedback from their schools on the Kahui Ako progressions and then writing them in child speak. We will also be visiting schools to see the teaching and learning happening and how the progressions are being utilised.
Writing rubric for Levels 1-3 of the NZC has been completed and schools are in the process of trialling them in various ways and stages. There is continued development on Levels 4 - 6.
Next step thinking is how do these progressions help support agency in writing?
During the upcoming working action groups, WSTs will share the practical ways they are using the LLPs.
